Honor MagicBook Pro – Good for Gaming or Not?

by

The Honor MagicBook Pro is getting glowing reviews from practically everywhere. Its price/performance ratio is probably one of the best in the world as it packs a fantastic hardware setup.

But is it any good for gaming? Can we truly call the MagicBook Pro a true Honor Gaming laptop

Well, we wish we could give a straightforward answer and say YES without any hesitation. However, the truth is that the MagicBook Pro is not built to be a gaming laptop, but a versatile one that can be used for all sorts of tasks. At the same time, we can’t exclude its gaming side.

To paint a better picture of its gaming abilities, here is what the Honor MagicBook Pro packs in terms of hardware that means a lot when it comes to gaming.

Graphics Processor Unit – GPU

The Honor MagicBook Pro features an integrated six-core Radeon RX Vega 6 graphic chip. Even though integrated graphics are considered underdogs, this one has proven to be great for mid-tier gaming. For example, you can run GTA 5 at 1920 x 1080 easily and smoothly. That means you are well-covered with both battle royal and MOBA games. The Vega GPU is in line with NVIDIA’s GeForce MX250 that is considered an excellent card for mid-gaming.

Central Processing Unit – CPU

When it comes to PC gaming, it is not just that the graphic processor unit that counts but also the central processor unit, among other hardware parts. The Honor MagicBook Pro comes with AMD’s new Ryzen 5 4600H processor unit that can handle many loads. This six-cire processor has a base core speed of 3GHz, twelve threads, and 11MB cache. Compared to the Intel Core i7-975OHF is way faster in almost any segment. In this regard, gamers will be happy to know that they got one hell of a CPU.

Display

The MagicBook Pro features an IPS 1080 display whose top brightness is 300 nits. All the colors are precise and accurate because of the 100% sRGB color gamut that comes with the MagicBook Pro. Because its webcam is placed into the keyboard, there is a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The comfort eye mode is also very convenient as it removes blue light.

RAM & SSD

The 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and 512 SSD also contribute to smooth gaming and are welcomed additions.

Cooling system

There are two venting fans on the bottom of the MagicBook Pro that don’t kick unless the workload is really heavy. But even when they do, they are pretty quiet. All in all, it is a well-designed cooling system that ensures smooth gaming. Its only downside is that its fans are placed on the bottom, which is a bit unconvinced when you have your laptop in your lap.

In conclusion

The simple fact is that the Honor MagicBook Pro is not built as a classic gaming laptop, but thanks to its amazing hardware, it can run all sorts of games, including some of the newest ones. What’s certain is that you won’t get anything better for its price.
